Envisioned and inaugurated at the 79th General Convention in 2018* in Austin, Texas, the first official dialogue meeting organized by the office of the presiding bishop and primate, the Most Reverend Michael B. Curry, was held on October 1-3, 2022.
* The conference did not take place until this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic
During that conference, the Task Force on Dialogue of the Episcopal Church and South Sudanese Episcopal Diaspora was formed to reach out to leaders of the South Sudanese Anglican/Episcopal community in the United States and to explore how the South Sudanese Diaspora and the Episcopal Church can enter into a better and more structured relationship.
The Rev. John Manyuon Aroch and vestryperson Abraham Deng Ater were invited to represent South Sudanese congregants at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church.
