SENIOR LUNCheon

This group meets once per month, September through May. We gather at 12:00 PM for lunch and then a speaker presents on a general interest topic from 12:45 PM to 1:45 PM.  Recent speakers have discussed a wide variety of topics from hypnosis to Civil War monuments.  We usually meet on Tuesdays or Thursdays depending on the speaker’s availability. This is a wonderful time to connect with fellow parishioners and to learn.  A $5 donation towards the food cost is suggested but not required.

PARISH-WIDE EVENTS

Episcopalians love to break bread together, and not just in our worship.  St. Michael’s certainly bears this out.

CELEBRATIONS FOR THE CHRISTIAN YEAR

During Holy Week, we have an Agape Supper on the evening we remember Jesus’ Last Supper. On Palm Sunday, we gather in the church parking lot for a Blessing of the Palms service followed by a procession with palms to the sanctuary.

On the Day of the Resurrection, our Easter morning congregation participate in a sunrise service or a traditional High Mass. Then we gather for a delicious potluck provided by our congregation. The children and youth are entertained by an Easter Egg Hunt on the back lawn.

On the Feast of Pentecost, fifty days after Easter, we recall the story of the Holy Spirit allowing people from many nations to hear the good news in their own language. During church, lessons are read in non-English languages and afterwards the luncheon includes parishioners’ food from their heritage groups. Many dress in wonderful ethnic outfits.

St. Michael and All Angels Feast Day in late September is likewise observed not only in worship with special vestments but in a feast shared afterwards.
